I have two weeks left of summer vacation.. boo!
And, I am having such a hard time deciding what to put on my door/hall bulletin board for back to school. I have a few ideas. But, nothing that just hits me as being perfect. I thought I would go back and show you a few that I have done in the past. I really wish I had pictures of each year!
“First Grade is Sweet”
These ice cream cut-outs came from the Dollar Tree {I think} and I printed the names and drew “clouds” around them.
“We are going to have a ball in first grade!”
This is probably my favorite… and I though about using a gumball machine again. But I honestly.. hate to do something twice. I still have the gumball machine. All I would have to do is make new names. And, I wonder WHY I hand wrote those names.. I never write anything! The lettering was cut with my cricut.
“Hop On In”
The coloring is off on this picture because this was really a cute frog! My mom and I worked together on this one.
“Let’s Shine this Year”
I actually think my mom did this whole board.. It is super easy but turned out really cute.
“Smile! You are in first grade.”
I loved, loved this little alligator. The alligator was made out of two pieces of green posterboard with scrapbooking paper accents. Those little polkadot triangles on his back made me happy! The letters were cut with my cricut.
This door was up next to the alligator. The hello sign is old, old! I bought it the year before I started teaching {14 years ago} and it came with several pieces. The names are printed on colored cardstock.
“First Grade is Out of This World”
This was last year’s decorations. The spaceship was made with posterboard and scrapbooking paper. The flames are made out of orange crepe paper. The letters were cut with my cricut.
This was my door that went with the spaceship bulletin board.
So, what are doing on your back to school board/door for this year?
Please share!
I teach middle school now, and bulletin boards and door decorations are one of the many things I miss about elementary. I've been trying to think of something to put up as a hallway display, but I haven't come up with anything spectacular yet. Any thoughts?
ReplyDeleteI wrote my students' names on little foam suns my mother in law bought for me and I got a big banner at Oriental Trading that says "Welcome to 2nd Grade" with a tropical theme. I'm excited!

I'm moving to a school with NO bulletin boards, but I'd like to do something on my door. Because my class is the caterpillars...something caterpillar inspired. I just returned from a 2 week vacay, so I'm just now getting back to work.
ReplyDeleteYOur doors are aDOOR able! Are the names computer generated or is that your own awesome printing? I'd love to recreate that. Awesomeness!
ReplyDeleteMine is NOT done yet :( but my theme is animal prints... So I'll have a rope with monkeys hanging and saying "you'll go bananas for 3th grade"... And will write my students' names on the bananas...
ReplyDeleteSO cute, as usual! That sun is gorgeous and the space ship board is fabulous! Our classrooms and doors were painted this summer (pale yellow and brick red...) so I'm still trying to figure out something to coordinate with those colors! May have to copy your sun :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute boards!! You have beautiful printing skills!!

Welcome To First Grade Room 5
My door is full of owls at the beginning of the year. It matches the welcome post cards that I purchase from you!

I love your door ideas! I'm making a door this year that says, "FACE it...Fifth Grade is Awesome!" with pictures of my students.

ReplyDeleteThe favorite of my back to school bulletin boards was of a big farm with student names on different vegetables (tomatoes, carrots, corn stalks, eggplants, etc.).
ReplyDeleteThis year our school theme is "TEAM: Together Everyone Achieves More". I'm truing to tk of something fun and different, but haven't got it yet. :/
With so many great ideas posted on various teacher blogs, Pinterest and Instagram, it's hard to say which one I'll use this year. However, the ice cream door is definitely a possibility. Thanks for sharing this post =)
ReplyDeleteI bought the Funky Sock Monkey decor from Primary Grafitti. Then I bought the sock monkey clip art she used off of Etsy so I could make a welcome decoration for the hallway. I just made a sign that says"Knock your socks off in 1st grade." to go with the names with the monkeys on them.

I'm Not Your Grandpa, I'm Your Teacher
We are asked to leave our bulletin boards up all summer (for families that will be touring our school), so I have my students write letters to the "new first graders" who will be coming up in September. They offer advice and tell the new students what school will be all about. My welcome to the new students (similar to what you show above) usually ends up on my door. Not sure how I'll be decorating it this year...

We have a school wide theme every year and this year's theme is Celebrating the Past...Charting the Future (???). It is our school's 50th anniversary. I'm thinking that I am going to put You're Invited... To a Fabulous First Grade Year and then make party hats with the students' names on them and put up real balloons and streamers.

Fun in First Grade!
All the boards are just adorable. My favorites are Let's Shine, The gum ball machine, and Out of This World.
ReplyDeleteBUT here's my question... do you seriously only have 12 kiddos?

Dragonflies in First
These are all so cute! I like how you can have larger names on the door. I typically have 25-26 kids, so I have to make them pretty small to fit them all on there along with whatever other decoration I decide to put up with them.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing what you decide on for this year!
These are all so cute!
ReplyDeleteYour bulletin boards are adorable!! I haven't been able to think of the perfect one for the beginning of the year either! I'm sure you'll think of something fabulous!! :)

A Sunny Day in First Grade
I lopve your boards-especially "Let's Shine" because the sun looks like an Eric Carle sun, and the simplicity of the students' names printed out on colored cardstock "clouds". I'm teaching third this year, and think I may steal that one!
ReplyDeleteThese are all so cute! Such great inspiration for when I go back (which isn't until Sept) But last year I did a big jukebox, put the kiddos names on records, and said Second Grade is Going Rock This Year!
ReplyDeleteThis year our principal is hosting a door decorating contest and prizes will be given out to the top 3 doors. We all have to use the phrase "Be -----" and everyone in the building has to choose a different adjective. So excited to see what everyone comes up with. We will "Be Super" in my room with a superhero theme!

Kickin' It With Class
Last year I did my wall with "look who's been spotted in 1st grade" under the letters I had 3 Big lady bugs and on Their spots were the student's names.
ReplyDeleteThese boards are so cute! I especially LOVE the "Hello" board. Can you tell me what font you used for the names on the colored cardstock?? What a cute font- I would love to use it!
ReplyDeleteWe are almost able to transcribe every possible stance as mentioned here, furthermore, there will be more of the prospects to be revealed afterward. rephrase a sentence online
