Let's Talk about Books!

 

A few weeks ago Deanna mentioned she was started a summer book link and I knew I wanted to join up.

Then, with all the stress of summer {HA!} I almost forgot all about it.

I ran by our local library this morning and picked up a handful of books that I had never read in hopes of finding something new & cute that I loved.

And.. I did!

 

The book I am sharing with you today is called

 The Show and Tell Lion!

It is about a little boy who told his class during show and tell that he has a pet lion at home.. just a teeny tiny little white fib.

Then that little bitty fib turns into more and more stories of his pet lion!

How will Matthew EVER get out of this story he told? He does.. but I won’t tell!

So, this story got me thinking about how I really do love Show and Tell. It’s been several years since I had a show and tell schedule in my class but I put together some ideas and special Show and Tell topics I like to use. I really look forward to possibly having a set schedule this coming up school year.

1. Today is my last day of Christmas vacation.. I am officially down to “just a weekend”. Pretty sad.. now comes the scramble to do everything that I have been putting off the last few weeks. Starting with this big box & bag of books and files.. I must start planning soon!

2. A few days ago I went to my classroom and took down everything Christmas related.. and pulled out the snowmen. Now, if we could only get it a little snow! {please!!}

3. I finished my 100th day Unit.. and it is now listed in my store! I hope to blog about it soon because I am really excited about what it includes.. we will celebrate our 100th day on January 25th… {unless, we get that snow I begged for in #2 above!!}

4. For about a year now.. I have had the website… www.ilovedoodlebugs.com and it was basically a “landing space” for all my links. When I first purchased the domain name- I quickly put together a design.. but I seriously hated it after a few weeks. I FINALLY redid the design- and it looks sooooo much better!

5. I got a Kindle Fire HD  for Christmas.. and I am on the lookout for a good case. Please share if you have suggestions.

6. I found this precious print that I am printing to hang in my office.. it is just perfect. It is a MESS in here! You can download it for free.. here.

Have a great Sunday! We are still celebrating Easter this week. We will have a big Easter party, egg hunt and lunch Thursday afternoon. Then, we are off Friday and Monday for a long weekend!

We have started our Fairy & Folk Tale adventure.. we started with the Princess and the Pea and will move on to the Tortoise and the Hare this week.

And.. these little babies are 2 weeks old today! Looks like someone is enjoying their Sunday afternoon nap!

it’s beginning to look a lot like christmas …… {linky party}

 

Looking around my room today- I realized we are in FULL Christmas spirit! My first graders are really into Christmas. So between work.. we are squeezing in as much fun Christmas stuff as possible!

I grabbed my phone and snapped a few pictures this morning. Christmas work, goodies, craft projects, decorations, books.. we’ve got spirit.. yes we do!
