Hello October! I just adore you! I love the cuteness of Halloween and was ready to start celebrating a new month this past Thursday.

And.. I absolutely LOVE my new black calendar pocket chart from Scholastic! Makes changing our classroom calendar a breeze!

You can also grab my free Halloween Calendar Cards in my store! (As well as calendar cards for all the other months too!) They fit in the pocket chart perfect.

We always do this cut and spell activity at the first of each month. It’s simple and quick. This can be found in my Halloween Unit.

Speaking of quick and fast. A perfect time filler that my kids always love is to practice spelling (or any kind) of words using chart paper and markers. I just cut the chart paper into 1/3 and they spread out on the floor.

Our phonics story this week is about a bug who makes hut out of a nut. I picked these acorns up out of my yard and had them in this little bowl on our special book table. They went crazy over these. And, I totally used them as bribery! Ever given out an acorn as a being quietest award?! Yea, me either! But, it worked!

I blogged a few days ago about parent communication from the Mailbox Gold program. If you missed it I would love for you to jump over and see a few different options the Mailbox Gold has for communication. HERE is the blog post!

I truly hope you have a wonderful and relaxing weekend! Link up your blog post below!

  6. I love this Linky Party idea! I'm going to have to jump in next week since I'm a day late-lol!

I also like your idea of students writing their spelling words on a strip of chart paper! What do you do with it afterwards when they're finished practicing their words?
