It’s Frday.. and a long weekend! I am ready! I cannot wait to sleep past 5 am at least one day this weekend! This week has kicked my tail. I am dragging today!

{1} We have been working on the –an and –at families this week. One quick and easy activity I do almost weekly is print a sheet of words and we each take a turn calling a word out and everyone finds it and covers it up. I do this in small groups so only about 5-6 do this at a time. After we use the word list at school I send them home for homework for them to practice reading.

{2} I pulled these counting by 5 apple cards out this week. I made these a few years ago and shared them on my blog a long, long time ago. But, I have added these as a free download in my TpT store.

{3} My little ones got introduced to the listening center this week. I know many people have transitioned over to ipods or ipads for their listening center. But, this is how we roll! It always makes me happy to see a table  full of earphone wearing kiddos! ..

{4} Let me tell you a sad, sad story.. for weeks I have been working on a Back to School Unit that had activities that I use the first week or so in school. I literally have been working on this unit forever! It was so close to being finished. I opened it up last Sunday to finish it and it would not open. I was sick! Weeks of work gone! So sad… It was on a flash drive and it just would not open. Something about problem with contents.. ugh!!!

This shape activity was one of the activities in the unit. Thankfully I did have a hard copy for myself.

{5} It is hot here people.. miserably hot. And, I sat in the 100 degree weather to watch this child play 2 softball games yesterday. It was a fun afternoon with family and we all agreed that fall cannot get here quick enough.

Enjoy your weekend! Happy! Happy! Happy!

  1. What a week. Thanks for he apples...they may be old for you but they are very cute! As for the technology failure, I have had my share this year. I almost lost my finished mid year class reports by a USB that packed it in without warning. Now that was scary!
    Happy weekend to you.

  2. I feel you--the heat here has been horrible this week... We have survived, though! Thanks for the free apples, as I have a few kids that can use these. Have a wonderful 3-day weekend!

  5. Love the word game! It is hot here too! So hot that school was cancelled Thursday and Friday because we don't have a/c and room temps were OUTRAGEOUS! Enjoy your long weekend!

  6. Sorry you could not open all that work. We have had things like that happen, too. I know they say to save often, but have found that I can mail files to myself and if I run into a glitch, the whole thing is not lost. Good Luck.

  8. Thank you for sharing all of your fun activities. I love the Bingo board, and I'm sure I could come up with a fourth grade version.

    Have a great weekend!

  9. What a big bummer about your lost work. That happened to me with my report card comments once. I think it was from not ejecting my jump drive correctly and just pulling it out. Now I've learned to email big projects to myself so at least I will have a copy somewhere.

    Have a great weekend!

  11. I LOVE your idea of printing the words out like that and just practicing reading. The kids totally think they are playing a game and really they are practicing their words. I love it :)

  13. Oh no! I hope you can somehow recover the files! :( I had the opportunity to meet author Marc Brown a couple of years ago and the day after my computer crashed! The tech person could recover everything BUT my pictures! So I no longer have the picture of me and Marc Brown! :( Total bummer!
