One of the projects that I wanted to do this summer was work on my sight word program and re-do some things. I felt like I needed to make a few changes and also make it more consistent.
I use Fry Words- and have used this book as a guideline for many years.
I finished this HUGE PROJECT this past weekend and I am just thrilled with the way it turned out. I went to my school this morning and copied the first 15 weeks of the unit so I will be set to go almost until Christmas time! It didn’t take long to prepare today but it will save me tons of time having it done.
I listed the unit in my store
Doodle Bugs: Sight Word Unit
Here is more info about the unit.
I used Fry’s list and used the first 300 words plus I added in color words, number words, days of the week and months of the year.
The unit includes weekly flash cards for all the words. The picture above shows just the first 15 words which is about 1/2 of the unit.
I choose to copy my flashcards on colored cardstock but you could use white paper or even construction paper.
Also included are weekly word list. The list is formatted 2 per page just to save copies. I will use these word list in small groups or for center activities.
I copied the first 15 weeks and went ahead and cut them apart so they will be ready.
Every week I give a weekly assessment. The assessment includes the 10 words for that week plus 5 words randomly picked from the weeks before. {except for the color word list because that is the first week of words.}
The box on the left is what the student looks at when reading the words.
The box on the right is what I mark when I test the student.
Also included in the unit are review assessments.
There is a sheet with all the words to review, the assessment and also the student version.
The student version is the paper the student reads from while I mark on the other sheet.
This unit is 141 pages long and has all the flash cards, weekly word list, weekly assessments and review assessments for Fry’s first 300 words, 10 basic color words, number words zero-twenty, Days of the Week and Months of the Year.

This is so great and organized! You are amazing!
ReplyDeleteAmazing!! I love the way you've organized everything in this pack. Our school uses FRY words too. I'm just curious, if a kiddo does really poorly on their weekly assessment do they take home the same words the next week or do they still get a new list?
