Happy Friday Y’all.
It has been a crazy couple of days as I scramble to get last minute projects finished and cross off things on my to-do list before I have to go back to school next week. I am pretty much in denial about the whole thing..
{credit}
1.My brain is on school over-load. I can not sleep. I keep thinking about something else that needs to be done. I am worried about this.. and that.. and everything! I just wish my brain would shut off and let me rest! I wish I didn’t worry so much!
2. I spent most of the morning working on Doodle Bugs Paper orders. It has been crazy busy with teacher orders lately. The new teacher postcards have been selling like crazy! Thanks Tammy at the Resourceful Apple for twisting my arm to make them! Also popular are portfolios {shown above} that are perfect for teachers and students!
3. Last night I finished big summer project #2. Math Fact Unit- which includes weekly sight words and assessments. I plan on posting more about this later. But, it includes addition and subtraction flash cards plus 10 addition, 10 subtraction, 4 mixed timed math drills.
4. Here is a little sneak peak {or is it peek} of what will be on my hall bulletin board/door for next week. It took me ALL summer to make a decision.
5. The giveaways at Primary Graffiti end today but there are TONS of units to win and LOTS of freebie links. It is worth it to click over and check it out. The giveaways end tonight so hurry. I am sure the freebie links will still be active after today but if you are interested in the giveaways .. go now!
And Leslie Ann and I will be picking a winner tonight too for our Back to School Pocket Chart Units tonight too! Click here to enter.
So, here are some questions for you..
{1} When do you start school?
{2} What will be on your door for back to school?
{3} How much are you loving the Olympics?
{4} Do you have a back to school activity I need to know about?
I start by on the 14th and the kids come back on the 16th. We can't put anything on our doors. My principal is very strict with the fire code. :( On the wall beside my door is my student work display wall. It's butcher paper with a tissue paper border and clothes pins. They pick what they want to put up each week but we'll probably do a project the first day to put up there. I'm enjoying the Olympics but I don't think as much as everyone else.

We report the 13th & kids start the 21st...AHGGH! We usually don't worry about door decorations at our school....but I don't know; maybe I'll bring that back! I am definitely loving the GIRLS gymnastics! Boys gymnastics, Phelps & Lochte have been a little disappointing to me...
ReplyDeleteI have only taught one year, so I have no "go-to" B2S traditions I can "pass on to" anyone just yet:) Just your basic children's lit (chrysanthemum, Officer Buckle, etc, etc). I will be (fingers crossed) doing the Daily 5, this year, though!
First of all, I just love your products. I am going to have to check out your teacher postcards. It seems that schools are starting earlier and earlier each year. We go back on August 20th. We can't put anything on our doors anymore due to the fire code. I miss putting cute back to school things on them. The Olympics are a respite from all the school to do lists going thru my head. I love the first week of school pictures that the students make of themselves . . . lots of creativity goes into them. I'll post them on my blog. Enjoy the rest of your summer.

I go back on the 8th (eek!) and the students will join us 2 weeks after that. We are required to decorate our door with the college that we attended... not fun! I am LOVING the Olympics. It is constantly on when I'm trying to finish all of my back-to-school goodies! My favorite back-to-school activity is magic playdough. I'm not exactly sure where I originally found it from but here's some info on it: http://fun-in-first.blogspot.com/2011/08/1st-and-2nd-day-of-school.html LOVE IT (and so do the kids!)

The Resourceful Apple
That poster is awesome. I just pinned and tweeted it because that is how I feel after my first official day back that ended with a four hour meeting. Our kids start next Thursday. The lesson I am most excited to teach is paper blogging to prepare kids for blogging in the classroom. I'm loving watching the Olympics every evening, but it is making me super tired. My teaching colleague and I think that they should postpone the start of the school year in years when the Olympics are taking place. I guess I will have to just rely on my Olympics app in the classroom next week to see what is happening. I am also planning to start Math with an Olympic Unit. We aren't supposed to decorate our doors, but I usually break the rule and put our kindness flowers on it. We are a Ben's Bell School and the students compliment classmates when they catch someone doing something kind around school. They write it on the flower and put it in my mailbox. On Fridays, we pull them out and read them. The recipients receive a Ben's Bell Necklace which they are challenged to pass off to someone else in the school when they see them perform a kind act. Sometimes students will get more than one nomination, but we only give them one bell for the week. Last year I ran out of my bells, three times! I had never handed out so many in one year. It really helps to build a positive classroom community. Since my new theme is Pirates...I am using jewel cutouts instead of flowers this year. I look forward to hearing more about what is coming next for your room. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteI start back Aug.27th with kiddos. This year, I'm doing an owl theme, but lol, on my door is actually a poster with QR codes for my parents to snap up all my contact info--gotta love technology! Olympics are amzeballs, one word. trampoline. nuff said
