If you read my FFF last week you saw we had been working on counting coins! We are still hard at work and I backed up and did some more practice on recognition this week. Goodness.. those nickels and dimes are hard for some of my little friends.

I shared this Room on the Broom free coloring sheet last week. My kids did these after they watched the movie last Friday while I was gone. It was a perfect Halloween treat. We turned the coloring sheets into a little contest. The winners are hanging outside in the hallway by our classroom door.

I got this Classroom Data Tracking book from Carson Dellosa this week. If you keep data records this is a great book. It makes proving your students growth easy and manageable. It also has some good options for involving students in their own data tracking.  I love that it is all in one book and easy to use. Makes this chore a little less work and time consuming for sure!

I also got this Paired Passages book that I will be putting to use with some of my higher level readers. It has three different pairings (1) fiction and nonfiction (2) nonfiction and nonfiction (3) fiction and fiction. I am so excited to have some more nonfiction options available! The questions are different formats so my students can practice a variety of ways to answer. Multiple choice, true and false and even short answer.

A friend of mine told me about Jet.com. Seriously.. go NOW and check it out. I am in no way affiliated with them! I just fell in love. The prices are very comparable and shipping is free over $35 and was super fast. And, the best part. I ordered from my phone in bed!
You can use coupon code triple15 on your first three orders for 15% off.
That just sweetened the deal even more!

  1. I loved the money sorting activity. I know money is not part of CC however kids struggle with it so much I think it is important to do a little bit each month. Room on a Broom one of my favorite Halloween books. Thanks for sharing the freebie.

  2. Sue, you wrote exactly what I wanted to write! :))
We'll be talking about money next month, so that's the perfect activity for my group.

  3. I love the coin sorting activity! Second graders do have to work with money and solve problems involving coins and skip-counting. This is a great activity for my kids who struggle with coin identification. Thanks for sharing!
