Five for Friday is a weekly teacher linky party where you post five random things from today or this past week on your blog. Then, you come back and link your blog post up at he bottom of this post in the linky tool. Grab the button above and link back to this post on your blog. Happy Weekend!
I just returned from a nice, relaxing week at the beach. It’s really hard to beat a beach vacation that includes good books, good food and good weather. It did rain a few days but it was nice and breezy the other days. Rain at the beach is better than rain at home any day!
This was the stack of books I carried with me on vacation. I read five of these while I was gone. We had no little ones to “watch” during our beach vacation so I could do what I wanted each day.. and that included reading pretty much ALL day/EVERY day! Sounds pretty perfect doesn’t it?
I would really recommend all of these! Really good!! You can click on the titles below to jump to Amazon to read the descriptions of each.
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins .. This is definitely the kind of book I normally pick up. But, everybody I know was telling me to read this. I saw it at the library and picked it up. It was good! Real good!
The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty … another recommendation from many friends. I liked this one a lot. Totally would recommend this one to anyone! This author is pretty popular right now and has a few best sellers out that others are raving about. I plan on checking out a few others this summer too. This was definitely one of my favs!
Spring Fever by Mary Kay Andrews .. I love, love, love Mary Kay Andrews. She is one of my go-to favorite authors. Her books are super easy reads that you can breeze through and not be able to put down. This one was fun! A great summer or beach read!
The Girls of Mischief Bay by Susan Mallery .. Susan Mallery is another favorite author that I enjoy. Just like Mary Kay Andrews her books are easy and enjoyable!
Summer Rental by Mary Kay Andrews .. I think this one is actually a few years old. I picked it up at Sams and was surprised that I had missed this one when it was first released. I enjoyed it too!
When I wasn’t reading {or napping} we were eating. We cook a lot at the beach and enjoy a few special foods. We have our regular beach foods that we eat each year {chicken salad, pimento and cheese, lots of dips, tons and tons of fruit, a few yummy desserts}.
This year, I cooked Monkey Break one morning. I usually cook this at Christmas time but it seemed like a great beach food. And, it definitely was yummy!!!
We also had a shrimp boil one night.
Another tradition that we enjoy includes late night Mexican Train Dominos.
So, that basically sums of the week …
reading + sleeping + eating + family games = beach vacation
And a week away means coming home to get caught up on work! I’ve spent this week working on stationery orders that came in last week. Lots of goodies were shipped out this week. My stationery website is Doodle Bugs Paper.
It’s also really cool to have talented friends that send you good mail. Thanks Krista from The Creative Paper Collection for this little bit of fun in my mailbox. Her shop is closed for a few days but you can shop again on June 10th. She has really fun and super colorful notepads and cards. Love, love, love her stuff!
Enjoy your weekend! Link up your Five for Friday post below!
Looks like you had an amazing time at the beach! I totally agree that a rainy beach day is way better than a rainy day at home! I too am in love with Krista's planners, they really help me stay on track! Thanks so much for hosting such a fun link up, and I hope you enjoy your summer!
