So Sad Friday Afternoon

A normal typical Friday afternoon usually puts a little skip in my step and makes me smile! But, today is so sad. Today marks the end of my Spring Break and I am officially down to … just a weekend!

Where has this week gone? Seriously! It flew by.

This morning, I ran to my school and took down a few more Dr. Seuss things.. and made some copies. I needed to do more but I had a little dog emergency and was in a hurry to get back home.

I mentioned in a previous post that we are fostering a dog from the animal shelter. She is about to have puppies any day! Well, she refuses to go to the bathroom in her pen {smart dog!} so several times a day I open the pen and let her out to use the bathroom. It works so smooth- she does her business.. then goes back in the pen. She’s an angel.

This morning- I opened the gate, she took care of her business, and she was hanging out on my patio. I opened my back door to get her a treat {10 seconds people} and when I turned back around she was running her pregnant self across to my father in law’s house next door- and ran under it. She was fast as fox.. and I could not catch her! Oh geez!

So, I thought she would come on out. But, it has been 6 hours and no sign of her. I know she is having those puppies under the house. Now, what do I do??

We have officially failed as foster dog parents!

So, between the 50+ trips I have made outside calling the dog trying to persuade her to come out.. I have worked on plans for next week.

Here is what is coming up….

001

Dino-o-saurs!

003

I also took a few minutes to try and plan out the rest of my year. There is is much I have not done that I normally do. We are a little behind on skills- but not so much that I am worried. But, I still have farm, insects, frogs, fairy tales, and bears to try to squeeze in.

Where has this school year gone?

Next week is our testing week.. yuck!

Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, tips or tricks on dinosaurs..

OR

getting my dog to come out from under the neighbor’s house?

Have a great weekend!

xoxo,

kacey

  2. I'm with you girl! I'm mourning the end of my spring break today as well. As for your sweet foster dog, I bet she's under there having the babies and may stay for a while. So exciting that you'll have a bunch of puppies to swoon over though!

  4. Hmmm...any good doggie treats, say like a t-bone steak? Other than that, I don't think doggie is going to come out. Poor thing! I'm sure she'll be fine under there, she'll be busy being mommy! Enjoy the last little bit of your Spring Break... I've got 3 weeks til mine gets here :(

  6. Oh no! So sorry about your break ending. Yuck!!!

Good luck with your doggie, and the new pups. I'm sure she is safe under the house. Dogs are funny like that!

Enjoy your weekend. Try to get some good rest before next week.

I think your foster dog sounds like a smart mama who wants a little privacy about now :).

  14. She probably knows best. It is their instincts. Can you call the rescue that helped you and ask them? Is there no way to get under there yourself? Are you sure she is still there? You are a GREAT foster mom. Many people would not have even taken a pregnant dog in. We always have one agenda and our dogs have another one. Our foster dog ate my son's sock and then threw it up. Thank goodness. I felt like a failure but I realize it is what they do. When I told someone in school they said when they got their dog it was having problems and they took it to the doctors and they had to operate and when they did they found 5 socks!!! So I felt better. What kind of dog is it? You are doing wonderful things when you foster. Everything will work out. You are awesome with everything you do!!!

  15. I agree with the earlier post, call the shelter and maybe you can get under the house with her kennel and scoop her in. A beagle right? Not too small, but you don't want to add additional stress but you want to protect those new puppies! Good luck! What a fun process, but sad to miss it. At least you still have a day left of break :)

  16. I'm an animal foster mom, too! My current foster animal is not pregnant, but she is SO scared and has been hiding for a week, only to come out when I'm at work. =( But congrats on the puppies!
