I’ve officially gone back to school- but Monday is my first day with students. This is EXACTLY the way I feel. The thought of early alarm times, getting dressed, makeup and working ALL DAY wears me out just thinking about it. I am starting my 15th year of teaching. This is nothing new- but I quickly forget how tired going back to school makes you.
I know YOU understand!!!!!!!!!!
Last week I told you about rescuing Biscuit. She is doing so much better and she has been my little sidekick all week. She has moved into my parent’s house but she visits our house and has been spending lots of time playing at school. She’s a nosy little girl who loves wandering the halls and meeting new friends at school. We are all in LOVE!
I got my class list for this year.
I have 12 new first graders.
7 boys and 5 girls.
Do you know how much I love the number 12!
Perfect for dividing the class in 1/2 and in groups of 3 or 4.
It’s a teacher’s dream!
After I got the list- I got busy making labels. I had a list of everything that needed labels- books, folders, boxes, desks, cubbies, hooks, helper chart, door, etc… and had it all ready to start labeling everything Thursday.
I ended up forgetting a few things- and had to go “old school” with the labels.. blank labels, handwritten names, and stickers. Oh my!
Biscuit and I spent a little time in the copy room Wednesday afternoon. I got my sight word flash cards copied for the year. I hate this chore! It seems to take forever . but so thankful to have it done and ready! My sight words are from my Sight Word Unit.
I hope you have a great weekend! I hope to catch up on a little sleep.. my mind has been going non stop all week and have not slept much. My room is ready and work is prepared. Bring on those little ones Monday.. at least it’s a 1/2 day.

That little dog is adorable! I have been thinking about adopting a dog but don't think I would have enough for them. Glad you and your parents are giving him a great home! And I am sure he LOVES wondering those halls at school!

OMG! I totally understand about not being able to sleep. My brain will not shut off at night, and then once I finally do fall asleep I am up a few hours later with my brain racing again. Good luck on your first day of school with your kiddos! Our kids don't start until the 18th.

12??? WOW! That is an absolute dream and definitely what education needs. It was a good year if I started off with less than 28. Crazy! Good luck with the beginning of your year.

I love your comic! I think we are all feeling that way. August and September are definitely the hardest months of the year trying to get into the swing of things. Thank you so much for hosting this linky party every week. I really enjoy seeing everyone post such wonderful ideas!

12 Students ?!?!? So lucky! In Kinder we get 25! Biscuit is absolutely adorable!
ReplyDeleteDoes your class list stay that small, or do more get added before the first day? All our classes have 21-24 kids. I love how small your class is! Good luck with the new school year!!!

Hi Kacey,
ReplyDeleteI love your colorful class list! I was wondering, is there a quick way to create multi-colored text like that, or do you highlight and color each letter? Thanks for sharing!
Best of luck for you first day- I've got one more week before my firsties come :)

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on getting 12 kids, Kacey! Biscuit really is starting to look better. I'm so happy you rescued her. By the way, I love the links you shared. They're very interesting. I love reading about how teachers interact with their students. You and your fellow teachers on your blog are all so sweet. I wish all of you the best! :)
