Five for Friday {Linky Party.. June 21}

fiveforfriday

Happy 1st Day of Summer!

It has been a busy, busy week! And, I am a little worried about how fast my summer vacation is going. I have been out of school for over a month. It will be time for me to head back before I even know it. We start next school year the first week in August.

Yikes! I guess I better start on that summer to-do list!!!!

shortvowels

I spent all day Monday finishing up and listing my newest units. They are short vowel practice units. You can purchase them separate or as a bundled set. Here is the blog link with more details.

On Wednesday I helped with another art/craft project at our local library. We made these super easy and fun dinosaurs this week!  Our art teacher from my school is in charge and my mom and I helpers!

Wednesday afternoon, I had to go to my school to do some testing on a student for next year. While I was there the summer art workshop was going on. The girls were painting an owl canvas and the boys were painting the cutest red jeep picture! I loved seeing their work and also seeing the kids.

If you have read much of my blog before you know how much I think our students are blessed to have an amazing art program and talented art teacher! She is a blessing to our school!

  2. Wow - that art is awesome! Love your dinosaurs! I love Spelling Test. It's a free app that you speak the weekly words into. I also love the Storia app too - great comprehension activities that go along with popular trade books!

  11. I love apps that let the kids create things much. My favorite two for the iPad are popplet and haiku deck. In haiku deck, they can add pictures and make a mini slideshow presentation. It would be good for story writing too. The kids can add their own pictures or choose from some free ones that they have. It's super cool!

  13. Next year will be my first year teaching 1st grade. I previously taught 4th grade. In 4th grade I used Words Their Way for our spelling. Having to give each group their spelling test worked... But I would like to find a more efficient way. I would like to use a spelling app for testing at some point...but it seems the ones I have found are for individual users. Does anyone know of a spelling app I could use to set up tests for multiple students!?

  16. Hi @Abbey Nelson ... www.spellingcity.com will do what you want it to. You can add the kids spelling list and then they have multiple games/activities that the kids can do to practice their spelling words. Hope that helps.

  21. I am not a k teacher (3rd grade) but Vegas is just a couple hours away so I'm going!! I hope I am lucky enough to win you great goodies! I agree with Chrissy, you can sign up for an email from smart apps for kids, every day they list apps that are free for that day only. They also review app too. My school iPad is FULL!!! This summer I plan to spend more time with the apps to keep the very best & delete the rest so I have room for those that WILL be offered in the future. Thanks for the linky...I plan to link up tomorrow ...already after eleven right now!
    Thanks,
