Do you read Spookley to your school babies? This is such a sweet and fun little book that is always a class favorite. This year we made these super fun Spookley pumpkins. IMG_0284 IMG_0282

I also bought the Spookley movie from Amazon a few weeks ago and left it with a sub one day. My first graders loved it! (and with Amazon Prime it was only $4.00.. score!)

We also did this sequencing activity with the Itsy Bitsy Spider and did a quick directed drawing for the top. The words are for the poem are found in my Spider Unit.

If you need a quick (no prep) math activity.. I would suggest sorting coins. This literally takes about 2 minutes to get together and the kids love it. And, they need the practice! We will be adding in quarters soon. Money identification is always a hard skill for some to pick up.

October 15th marks the beginning of my Christmas season with my stationery business. It will be crazy busy for the next two months but it is always exciting. I have a few holiday shows coming up in November so I am working on getting things together for those. My ordering deadline is usually the last weekend in November so that will be approaching really fast!

I screenshotted (is that a word?!?) this image from instagram a few days ago. I wish I remembered who I grabbed it from to give credit.. but it is TOTALLY true! Patience and wisdom are pretty important.

I hope you have a spooky and fun Halloween. I am posting this before school on Friday but our day is packed with Halloween fun. We are going trick or treating in the morning, Halloween party and a Halloween themed pep rally for our high school football team. It is sure to be  day packed with sugar highs and hopefully lots of patience for me!

Happy Halloween!! Link up your Five for Friday post below.

#BeTheDifference with the Mailbox Gold: Early Finisher Idea

bethedifference_thumb2_thumb2

IMG_0257

I am back again this month to share some more of the awesome-ness of the Mailbox Gold program. This is a monthly subscription program that cost $3.00 and you have access to tons and tons of downloadable items. Many of which are programmable. Which means- you can add your text before you print.

IMG_0260

This month I am here to show you one way you can manage early finishers. I am ALL about changing up things and but still keeping things in a routine. I absolutely LOVE the idea of early finisher task cards. And, I love that I can change them up with our themes or holidays through out the year.

IMG_0259  IMG_0258

The Mailbox Gold has a feature called Make and Print Tools and you can make your own cards. You just select the border and size, then type and print! Easy Peasy. Makes making task cards a breeze!

IMG_0256

And the best part.. quick prep time. I typed the cards, cut, and laminated in less than 1o minutes. Stored them in a cute Halloween tin cup and added a few pencils and a stack of paper. Doesn’t get any EASIER than this!

IMG_0261

These cards can be found on the Mailbox Gold. The cost is $3.00 a month and new items are added each month! You can click the box below to jump over and see or read more about this program.

We made these super easy bats to hang on our classroom door. I absolutly can not stand my brown classroom door. Nothing ever shows up good on it and I HATE to hang paper on it. So, I just have to live with it.

We have been working through my Spiders Unit this week.

Counting by 5’s pocket chart activity. I used this as one of our math centers this week. It also has a recording sheet but we skipped that this time.

Pick the greatest number cards & recording sheet. This was another math center for the week.

And one of my small groups activities was ordering the words to the Itsy Bitsy Spider.

All of these are included in my Spider Unit.. plus TONS more!

They also have The Room on the Broom but I bought it last year at Target. We will watch it later this month!

We are still celebrating the month of October! I feel like we are FINALLY into a routine and I spend more time teaching academic skills rather than classroom procedures. AND.. they get it! They really get it! They know what to do and don’t ask me a million a questions a day. We are settled in ready for the rest of the school year!

These October sheets are included in my Months of the Year Unit that I use each month! I just love this product and enjoy having the printables to use each month.

I was also so excited to spend some time last weekend prepping my Halloween Cut and Paste printables to use as morning work for the new few weeks. These are a life saver and my kids love them!

Thursday I took the day off from school and went on a shopping day with my mom to the biggest flea-market in Mississippi. We go every year but this year it seemed waaaaay hotter and bigger crowds. Always fun though! And, I enjoyed a day off from my first grade friends!
